West Geauga High School has named Micah Young as the next Boys Head Varsity Basketball coach.

Young has been with the West Geauga basketball coaching staff since 2018 when he served as the Freshmen Head Coach and Varsity assistant. He has spent the last two-seasons as the JV Head Coach and on the varsity staff.

In addition to West Geauga, he was the JV Head Coach at Berkshire High School during the 2020-21 season and worked on the varsity staff.

“We are thrilled to welcome Micah back as our next Varsity Head Coach at West Geauga. His passion for basketball and more importantly, Wolverine Basketball, really shined through during the interview process”, said Athletic Director Brandon Stewart. “He has done a tremendous job with our student-athletes while in his roles as both a Freshmen and JV coach and at the varsity level and we are excited to see the continued growth in their development both on and off the floor”, added Stewart.

Young has worked with The National Basketball Academy (TNBA) since 2018 as the Assistant Director of Basketball Operations. While with TNBA, he has coached multiple AAU teams, helped recruit and organize teams and worked as a camp director.

Young is a 2017 graduate of West Geauga where he played four years as a member of the basketball program. He continued his education at Kent State University where he graduated with a degree in Physical Education and Health Candidate.
