The West Geauga Volleyball team opened the season with a pair of wins on the road over Cardinal and Garrettsville on Saturday.

In the first match, the Wolverines defeated the Huskies in straight sets 25-12 and 25-14. West Geauga hit an impressive .246% and had three aces. Kayla Herbst led West Geauga with eight kills while Kaitlyn Danszczak had five and Molly Widmar finished with four.

Malory Lear had 20 assists and six digs while Grace Laster finished with 13 digs.

In the second match of the day, West Geauga defeated Garrettsville in three sets. The Wolverines won the first set 25-17 before falling 26-24 in the second.

West Geauga bounced back to win the third and deciding set 25-22.

Danszczak finished with a match-high 21 kills while Herbst added eight. Lear finished with 29 assists and Laster had 14 digs.

West Geauga will travel to Lakeside on Tuesday for a tripleheader starting at 4:30pm.
