The West Geauga High School boys cross country team finished first in their season opening meet on Saturday at Riverside.

The boys were led by Daniel Kerns who finished second overall out of 232 runners with a time of 16:14. There were a total of 28 teams competing in the D2/D3 race.

Matt Dienes finished eighth overall with a time of 16:37 and Chris Whiting came in 14th in a time of 17:06.

The boys team will compete at Avon Lake this weekend.
